Wild Wyland Seascapes

Students are inspired by American muralist, Robert Wyland and his Whaling Walls. Once students feel comfortable drawing sea life, they begin to compose a background for their sea creatures. This project is designed to have students ease into multi-media artworks. They will add tissue paper onto their background. Finally, the sea life is added as the foreground to bring the Wild Wyland Seascape to life!

Celebrity Dog Houses

Students are divided into "Architecture Firms" and are instructed to design a prototype dog house for a celebrity of their choice. Each team is giving access to the same supplies so that the competition is far. At the end of the project, the dog houses are displayed and teachers are asked to vote for the best overall dog house, best use of celebrity, and most inovative design. The students learn how to work with their peers, create blue prints, and construct a three deminsional object out of flat cardboard.
